Year 3 catwalk and sewing afternoon

Year 3 catwalk and sewing afternoon

As a finale to their topic ‘Step into my Shoes’, students in Year 3 held a fashion show and invited parents and grandparents into class to help sew a pair of slippers that they had designed.

Based on the shoe making workshop that they took part in at the start of term with Northampton Shoe museum, students have been planning and designing their own pair of slippers and were able to produce the end product with the help of parents and grandparents by sewing a pair of slippers.

They also brought in their favourite pair of shoes from home and showed them off on our shoe catwalk walking up and down like fashion models.

Year 3 teacher Mrs Becky Annetts said, ‘The day was a really nice way to end our topic and helped the children see the entire shoe making process from planning and design to sewing the final product. It is always nice to have so many parents come into class and help the children and it enables them to discover what we have been learning about this term.’

One parent said, ‘It was lovely to come into class today and help with the sewing, there was a really good atmosphere during the afternoon and the slippers looked fantastic.’
