Year 6 students take part in a Yoga lesson to de-stress them during SATS

Students from Year 6 were invited to take part in two yoga sessions during their SATS to help relax them and combat any stressful feelings they may have been experiencing.

Local teacher Kate Williams, showed them a variety of positions such as, tree, ragdoll and downward dog as well as different breathing techniques to help overcome anxiety.

Research has shown that teaching students Yoga in schools can have many physical and emotional benefits including; developing strength, flexibility and stamina, reducing tension, stress and anxiety and raising self-esteem and improving motivation.

Year 6 teacher Ms Cross said ‘The Year 6’s really enjoyed the two sessions they had. It was a great way for them to relax and let off excess stress or worry they had after sitting their SATS.’
