Year 3 teacher completes London Moonwalk for charity

Congratulations to our Year 3 teacher Mrs Becky Annetts who took part in the London Moonwalk for Breast Cancer completing the course in just over five hours and raising more than £3,000 for the charity.

Becky took part in the 15 mile walk through the night with eight of her friends and has been training since January. She said ‘I wanted to take part in the Moonwalk to raise money as cancer is a cause close to my heart as members of my family have suffered with the illness. I also wanted to challenge myself physically and improve my fitness by doing the training, which I plan to continue and hope to do another one in a few years time.’

Wearing bras is the unique trademark for the walk and to celebrate the 20th anniversary the theme this year was “Roaring Twenties’ with all participants walking the walk in decorated bras, which might not be the normal sight for a Saturday night in London, but is a vision to behold and one that succeeds in not only raising awareness but millions of pounds to grant to benefiting causes.

‘The hardest part of the walk was the tiredness as you are walking through the night so your body thinks that you should be sleeping but the atmosphere and the feeling of achievement from taking part was phenomenal especially as my friends and I completed it together and raised such a brilliant amount for Breast Cancer. I want to thank everyone who has sponsored us and encouraged us along the way, if you haven’t donated yet but would like to you can via our just giving page or by speaking to me directly.’
