Year 6 students take part in county duathlon record

Students in Year 6 took part in a Duathlon together with almost 1,000 Corby school children to try to beat a the duathlon record.

The event, which took part at Lodge Park Academy and was organised by The Triathlon Trust, involved the students seeing how far they could travel in one day in a two-minute run, two-minute cycle, two-minute rest circuit for 20 minutes.

All students that took part contributed to Corby’s total distance travelled in one day with the aim to try to beat the furthest distance collectively travelled held by schoolchildren from Cambridge, who travelled a total of 3,250km. Oakley vale travelled 312km and the total travel of the day was 3272km.

Year 6 teacher Ms Stephanie Cross said ‘The students demonstrated great team work, encouraging each other with high fives. They all had an amazing time and we were incredibly proud of them.’
