Harvest Festival celebrations

As part of our Harvest Celebrations Year 3 took the lead during our harvest assembly and invited parents and carers in to join in with this traditional assembly.

The students, who had been practising for a number of weeks, sang songs such as ‘Cauliflower’s Fluffy’, recited poems and acted out a harvest story about toast and the whole school were asked to bring in an item of food for the assembly which was donated to the local food bank.

Deputy Head Mrs Nikki McDonald said ‘We always enjoy the tradition of celebrating Harvest at Oakley Vale and it was lovely to see so many parents enjoy the assembly with us. The students put so much hard work into practising their lines and learning the songs, it was a fabulous event. I am also always pleased to be able to give something back to the community with our donations to the food bank.’

One parent said ‘The children were superb today at their Harvest assembly. Thank you for helping them put on a lovely show. I liked the concept of children coming forward taking centre stage and saying their lines.’
