Year 5 visit to Lyveden New Bield

Year 5 visit to Lyveden New Bield

Students from Year 5 at Oakley Vale primary school visited historic Lyveden New Bield to learn songs for  a ‘secret concert’ they will be performing there later this month. The students found out more about the history of the building, which was started by Sir Thomas Tresham but left incomplete after his death in 1605. The students filled in worksheets, walked through the gardens and orchards and learned songs with professional singers from The Come and Sing Company, who will lead a community choir in an outdoor summer concert in Lyveden’s gardens.

The choir will perform a programme of music and the choir will include 100 children from three schools from Corby, King's Cliffe and Aldwincle, who have composed new music about Lyveden to perform at the concert.Students will also have further tuition and another trip to Lyveden during the week of the concert., which starts at 7.30pm on Saturday 23 June. Tickets for it can be booked online at the National Trust website.
