Students perform at Young Voices concert

Students from Years 5 and 6 performed together with hundreds of other schools at the Young Voices concert at Genting Arena, Birmingham.

The concert combined the power of singing together as one, with accompaniment from a wide range of musicians and artists, which included Natalie Williams, The Beatbox Collective and Tabby O Callaghan. With a full live band, backing singers and the internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence, the evening was one of the most exciting and memorable musical experiences imaginable.

Young Voices concerts are the largest school choir concerts in the world. The choirs range from 4,500 to 8,500 students all performing to a sold out arena of family and friends. The concerts offer the rare chance to perform together with thousands of schools across the country and for teachers to get their students involved in live music on a huge scale.

Year 5 teacher Ms Grkinic has been practising the mix of rock and pop songs with the students since the start of the school year to ensure they were fully prepared and ready for the concert. All of the schools wore Young Voices T.shirts and sat in stands that filled the entire length of the stage.

Ms Grkinic said ‘The atmosphere in the arena was absolutely amazing. It is incredible to see the hundreds of schools all co-ordinated and singing together at once. I was extremely proud of all of the children, how they remembered all the words to the songs and how they performed so incredibly well together with the other schools. It was a fantastic event and everyone loved every minute of it.’
