Students raise £400 for local hospice

Students at Oakley Vale have raised £400 by holding a cinema evening for local hospice Lakelands.

Lakelands specialises in palliative care for people with cancer, heart failure and other life limiting diseases. The school regularly supports them and in previous years, have organised cake sales and mufti days to raise money for them.

Students raised money through ticket sales at a cost of £3 including a snack and drink. There was a choice of five films to watch; The Polar Express, Elf, Home Alone, Frozen and Nativity which were shown in different classrooms throughout the school.

Reception teacher Miss Tew said ‘It was brilliant to see so many children take part in our film night. The children were really engaged in the films on offer. It’s a great way of raising money for charity and we will definitely be holding more in the future.’
