Reception Alien stay and play

Reception Alien stay and play

To celebrate their space topic students in reception held an Alien stay and play afternoon and invited parents into the classroom to join in with their learning.

The class enjoyed dressing up and parents joined in with activities that included building rockets from junk modeling, astronaut obstacle courses and creating their own alien hats.

Reception has enjoyed learning all about space this half term. They have learnt about rockets, astronauts, the solar system and aliens, as well as listening to stories linked to space. They even experienced an unexpected guest in the classroom who left footprints and pants everywhere that the students decided must have been one of the aliens from the story 'Aliens love underpants.'

One parent said ‘We all had a lovely afternoon at the stay and play session. My daughter enjoyed the opportunity to dress up and show us her skills in the classroom. She produced some lovely writing, did some reading, and used the large dice and numicon to solve a number problem. As well as making a rocket ship with her dad. We are grateful for having these shared opportunities.’
