Students enjoy New Age Kurling at the School Games in Kettering

A group of students from Year 2 and 3 were invited to Kettering Sports Arena to take part in a day of New Age Kurling at the district School Games.

The Northamptonshire School Games is part of a national programme of competitive sport that is open to all young people in every school across Northamptonshire. It is a celebration of competitive sport that involves young people from 5-18 years, of all abilities and backgrounds.

The students played against other primary school children from across Northamptonshire and encouraged each other to try their best and not give up. They earned stickers from the Young Leaders who spotted them demonstrating the School Games Values throughout the day.

At the end of the day there was a presentation in which Year 2 student Sullivan Argyle was presented with a School Games wrist band for showing the value of self belief throughout the day. Year 2 teacher Mrs Robey said ‘All of the children encouraged each other and worked as a team the whole day. I was extremely proud of all of the students behavior they were a credit to the school and it was a pleasure to take them.’

School Sports Manager for the School Games Mr Matthew Peleszok said ‘I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to Oakley Vale School Games New Aged Kurling Sports Stars.  They were a credit to your School and represented the Academy with pride at the Northamptonshire School Games.  The way they showed the School Games Values throughout the competition was a testament to the education they receive within your Academy.

Your students provided my personal highlight of the week with the smiles they continuously had on their faces and the journey of enjoyment we saw them go through on the day.’
