Year 2 investigate habitats

Year 2 investigate habitats

As part of their new topic ‘The Leopard’s Drum’ students in Year 2 have been exploring and investigating habitats in their science lessons.

Students investigated where insects live by going on a bug hunt in the school garden discovering what the features of an insect's habitats are. They then researched and designed bug hotels thinking about the type of habitat an insect would need and collecting items from the garden in order to create them which were then placed in the school garden for insects to find and live happily ever after in.

Year 2 teacher Mrs Clarke said ‘The students have really enjoyed exploring and gaining a greater understanding of an insects habitat. It was great fun designing our own hotels and fantastic to see the children use their imagination and knowledge to create the perfect home.’
