Reception receives a visit from local mobile farm

As part of their new topic ‘Paws, Claws, Feathers and Whiskers,’ students in reception enjoyed a visit from a local educational mobile farm, where they received a hands-on tactile experience with farm animals.

There were lambs, goats, ducks, a cockerel, piglets, dogs and a pony called Beau which students took turns in having a ride on.  They got the chance to learn lots of information about different farm animals and were able to pet them.

The experience links to the area of learning ‘understanding the world’ which is part of the curriculum and a good opportunity for students to get close to farm animals and learn more about them.

Reception teacher Ms Polly Murdock said ‘The farm was a brilliant introduction to farm animals as some of our students may not have had this experience in the past. They felt safer and more secure as they were in their own surroundings and the animals were brilliant and so well behaved. We all had a fabulous morning.’
