Science Intent

Our science curriculum - designed and created alongside the National Curriculum and other specialists within the STEM field - ensures children gain all the essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.  It provides the foundations for philosophical, practical, emotional and intellectual thinking to allows the children to know more, do more and remember more.

Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They are encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes all of which allow for a deeper understand of Science. Children will carry out a range of scientific investigations and example of which can be found below:

Children leave Oakley Vale equipped with the scientific knowledge and curiosity which will allow them to know more, do more and remember more for the Science of today and the future.
