Boosting literacy, grammar, vocabulary, analytical thinking, and cultural awareness—preparing pupils for future learning.
At our school, children begin learning French in Year 3 as part of our broad and balanced curriculum. As a school we use the scheme Language Angels to support our French teaching. The teaching of French places a strong emphasis on pronunciation and accuracy from the outset. Lessons are carefully sequenced to ensure a progressive and systematic approach that builds pupils’ confidence over time. Children are introduced to key grammatical features of early French to support their understanding and communication. French is a valued subject that contributes to our aim of developing global citizens. Pupils enjoy learning the language and take pride in their growing ability to speak and understand French.
