Building musical confidence and creativity through singing, playing, composing, and listening.

A high-quality music education should inspire a love of music and nurture children’s talents as musicians. Our curriculum aims to build confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation of music. Children perform, listen to, and evaluate music from a wide range of genres, styles, and historical periods. They learn to sing, compose, and play instruments—both individually and in groups—while developing an understanding of musical notation. We use the Sing Up scheme to deliver a progressive, skills-based curriculum. In Key Stage 1, children explore music through singing, playing instruments, and experimenting with sound. In Key Stage 2, they build on these foundations with more advanced composition, performance, and listening skills, including reading notation and understanding musical history.

Through regular opportunities to create, perform, and reflect, children develop musical fluency and expression, gaining the confidence to engage critically and creatively with music throughout their lives.
